Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel is an International School with an objective to help students to nurture curiosity, passion and desire for lifelong learning while developing understanding and respect for each individual. Keeping these objectives in mind, Dr. Pillai Global Academy conducted Entrepreneur Fest 2019 on 28th June, 2019. The event was bedazzled with experiences and inputs shared by many successful Entrepreneurs and presented confluence of ideas put together by students.

The school was proud to welcome and be a host to the Chief Guest of the event, Dr. Priam Pillai, Founder PCIE and Special Guest Dr. Celina Joy, Coordinator, PCIE. The key note speakers for the talk session included Dr. Hemjith Balakrishnan, Ms. Pravita Iyer, Ms. Arya Tiwari and Ms. Shrimayee who are successful entrepreneurs and Parent Community members who volunteered to be a part of the event and share inputs. Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Mr. Krishna Shukla were other respected members who have stepped in the field of entrepreneurship recently and are growing in leaps and bound. The school wishes everyone very best for their future ventures.

Talk Session:

As a motivational trigger for students, talks by successful entrepreneurs from different backgrounds and experiences, was organized. The topic for the session was “Success through an Entrepreneur’s Eye” which was beautifully interpreted by different speakers as they shared their entrepreneurial journeys, covering the
problems and hurdles faced and how they were overcome. The panel of key note speakers included following Entrepreneurs:

Ms. Arya Tiwari- Strategic Business Development and Alliance, Renewable Resources and Waste Management

Mr. Krishna Shukla- CEO, Digital Web India, KS Entertainment, Target Marketing Ms. Gurpreet Kaur- Owner and Founder, Gurpreet Kaur Leadership and Development

Ms. Shrimayee- Marketing Executive Head for Konkan Sales and Services

The session helped students to understand various facets of an Entrepreur’s life. The event also included Question- Answer session wherein panel members replied to queries of the inquisitive minds of the students.

Exhibition:

An exhibition was organized, keeping in view the intention of providing an opportunity to the students to exhibit their talent and entrepreneurial ideas. The students from Grade 9 to Grade 12 prepared Business Plans and exhibited samples of their products to present their Business Ideas. The ideas were evaluated by the judges and feedbacks were shared. The event included collaboration with various departments wherein the students were guided by the statistics department to conduct their market research and the results were evaluated by the subject experts from Statistics department. The guidance and evaluation of Oral presentation of the idea was done by the English Department. The guidance and evaluation of sustainable use of resources and disposal of waste done by environmental department. The artistic and creative poster preparation was guided and evaluated by Art and Design department and guidance for Inclusion of technology in the idea was given and evaluated by ICT department.

The event was very well received and enjoyed by every attendee. It worked towards creating high level of Self-management, organization skills, leadership abilities, communication skills and strong team spirit. The excitement of the students was very evident. The event provided an opportunity to the students to see the practical use and implication of the Business Management theories and concepts read in the book. It also worked towards developing ethical concerns when they explored sustainability of the resources and disposal issues.

As said by Peter Ducker, ”Entrepreneurship is neither a science nor an art, it is a practice.”
