~ “Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common…celebrate it everyday”

Dr Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel

Last year, after the chaotic mid-term exams, the students of DPGA were eager to unwind and have some fun. With Halloween and Diwali both on the horizon, the organizers faced a dilemma: which one to choose? As a global school, they came up with a unique solution to merge the two. And so, HOWDI (Halloween + Diwali) was born. The celebration was a huge success and hence was recreated on a larger scale this year.

On the day of the event, there was an undeniable buzz of excitement among the students and faculty. Donning their finest Halloween costumes or elegant Indian wear, everyone was ready for a day of festivities. The classrooms were adorned with tasteful decorations, with each class competing to create the most impressive display for the best-class decoration award.

The atmosphere was electric as students of all grades participated in theme-based activities and fun games. The primary grades showed off their creative skills in pumpkin decorating and indulged in games like the candy spoon race and pin the eye on the ghost. Meanwhile, the lower secondary grades were challenged with Halloween and Diwali-based trivia, followed by fun games like Pictionary, Charades and Taboo. The higher secondary grades had the most thrilling activities, including a scavenger hunt, truth or scare, and a bone-chilling murder mystery. Each class clicked a photograph in their memorable attire, captured perfectly by the Halloween and Diwali-themed photobooths and decorations. The day was filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Following lunch, the dancing extravaganza took place. The primary grades were completely immersed in the movie they were watching, while the secondary grades turned the assembly hall into a vibrant dance floor. The energy was contagious and the music irresistible, making it a party for the ages. The announcement of prizes for the best costumes and class decoration simply added to the joy of all who were present. This unforgettable celebration will undoubtedly be talked about for years to come.

HOWDI successfully achieved its purpose of celebrating diversity and bringing the student body together harmoniously.
