Celebration of IBDP Core Elements – 27th March, 2021

Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel successfully celebrated the core elements of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme with immense passion and enthusiasm.

The ‘core’is seen as the heart of the Diploma Programme. It aims to foster and nurture international-mindedness, with the ultimate goal of developing responsible global citizens. The core consists of three elements – Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS i.e. Creativity, Activity and Service. A coherent view of the core supports the interconnectedness of learning, concurrency of learning, the learner profile and offers a broader view of the subject disciplines.

The principal of the school, Ms. Shraddha Sardesai addressed the attendees and emphasised on the importance of these core elements and core values in our everyday lives.

The TOK teachers shared their experience of the teaching and learning process of Theory of Knowledge. The dynamic team of teachers under the guidance of Dr. Latha Venkataraman celebrated the students’ ability to think about the nature of knowledge, to reflect on the process of learning and to draw connections across disciplines.

The event moved forward with the enthusiastic students of IBDP 2 sharing their experience of the Extended Essay. Each of the students shared their journey of the Extended Essay process with the IB fraternity and celebrated the IB Learner Profile. The supervisors also shared their experience and admired the efforts and hardwork put in by each of the students.

CAS Coordinator, along with the CAS supervisors, shed light on the involvement of the students in a range of enjoyable and significant experiences. It showcased, strengthened and extended students’ personal and interpersonal learning skills through various activities and initiatives.

The celebration of the Core Elements ended with the address by IBDP Coordinator, Dr. Mousumee Mishra. The importance of the core elements in the development of an individual was emphasised.

The spirit of the students was not dampened by the ongoing pandemic. Seeing the students becoming active, compassionate and lifelong learners made us proud. The celebration of core elements was a great success!
