Indian Naval Symphony Orchestra

On Friday 8th November 2019, the students of Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel got an opportunity to attend the Indian Naval Symphonic Orchestra live in concert. The harmonious event was organised at Mulla Auditorium, Navy Nagar, Colaba and the students were accompanied by the Principal, Ms. Shraddha Sardesai, event coordinator, Mr. K P Rajesh, and the Performing Arts Department.

Indian Naval Symphonic Orchestra captured the hearts and minds of the music aficionados of DPGA as well as the entire audience during the Annual Symphonic Musical Extravaganza. The world famous band regaled and enthralled the audience with a wide range of repertoire of stirring Martial Music, arrangements of Western Classical, Indian Classical and other forms of contemporary popular and folk music. During the melodious evening, the band continued to relate closely to the audience, incorporating varied choices like fanfare, fantasia, pop and patriotic music, while maintaining high standards of professionalism. While a rendition of a classical Ghazal ‘Hey Ram Hey Ram’ by late Jagjit Singh mesmerised the audience, the young ones were taken aback by an energetic cover of famous Pop artist Adele’s song ‘Set fire to the rain.’

Students were thrilled to see the signature performances on Xylophone, which turned out to be the highlight of the event. A pleasant surprise came to teachers and students as they got an opportunity to personally meet the Band in a post gig Meet & Greet session enabled only for Dr. Pillai Global Academy by Mr. K P Rajesh who is also a former Navy Officer. The students gained inspiration from the perfection and accuracy displayed in the playing of the musical maestros of the Naval Orchestra. The Student of DPGA thoroughly enjoyed the melodies and brought home musical memories that they will cherish forever.
