Orientation Programme for IBDP 2020-2022

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Orientation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for the batch 2020-2022 was conducted virtually on 22nd April, 2020. Dr. Mousumee Mishra, IBDP Coordinator, addressed the gathering and enlightened them with the importance of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in creating lifelong learners, going beyond the formal education and training.

The IB Mission Statement was explained in detail explaining the holistic approach in the IB education The IB Learner Profile attributes were also highlighted in order to make the parents and learners aware of the IB philosophy.

The six subject groups were discussed in detail and the learners as well as the parents were made aware about the choice of three subjects at higher level and three subjects at standard level, respectively along with conditions like Non-regular Diploma and other details. Dr. Mousumee also explained the central core elements – CAS, Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay of the IB Diploma Programme. A brief introduction was given about the Internal Assessments in various subjects with a focus made on approaches to teaching and learning to inculcate the various skills in the learners.

DP2 students, Anika Tandon and Lynette George shared with the audience why they chose IBDP and their enriching experiences through the journey which was quite overwhelming to the audience. This was followed by a question-and-answer session towards the end of the Orientation where the DPC along with the subject teachers solved the rising queries. The session was quite informative, and it ended with a brief informal note of thanks and wishing the gathering good health and safety during the uncertain times.
