Working with Habitat for Humanity India

Habitat for Humanity India is a Non-profit Organization that builds homes and provides housing-related services to low-income, marginalized families across India. DPGA, New Panvel is associated with Habitat for humanity from the past years. Two activities, Healthy Food Stall Day and 2D Art Competition, were carried out to support the cause of Habitat for Humanity. Healthy food stall day was conducted on 23rd August 2014, where IBDP students as well as parents organized stalls which had variety of healthy food items.

The parents and IBDP students donated Rs. 3,260/- the profit collected from their collection to support the work carried out by the NGO. A 2D Art Competition was conducted on 17th September, 2014 with the coordination of our art department. There was a session conducted by Habitat for Humanity about the work carried out by them across India wherein they also made an appeal to contribute towards raising funds for homeless families. With the contribution of 50 students, our school could raise the fund of Rs. 31,000/-. The top two donors, Zainab Shaikh from grade 4 and Leroy Laiju from grade 5 were awarded Sterling Holiday Packages. Top donor from each class was awarded a gift voucher of Amar Chitrakatha. Also the winners of 2D Art Competition were awarded with certificates. We would like to appreciate all the parents for their generosity and thank all the students for participating in the activity.
