Independence Day 2019

Independence Day was celebrated with great respect at Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel. The day began with slight showers of rain but fortunately subsided and eventually came to an end right in time. The celebration remained on schedule and commenced at 8:00 a.m. on the school ground with the audience consisting of students, parents, teachers and the supports staff of the school.

The Student council members took their positions in front of the students just before we commenced with the programme. To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the head girl, Pranjal Mhatre, along with our principal, Mrs. Shraddha Sardesai unfurled our tricolour flag and all in unison saluted the flag and sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom.

The first speech of the day, was delivered by Arya Lad of grade 3. Arya delivered his speech in Marathi that awakened everyone’s feelings towards our motherland.The next speech was by the Dwisha Jha from grade 4. Dwisha delivered her speech in English which spoke of the importance of being an independent nation.

The last speech for the day was delivered by, Vivekaditya Sharma of grade 10. Vivekaditya’s speech was delivered in Hindi which spoke about the transition of our nation from the British rule to being established as an independent nation.

At the end of the programme, sweets were distributed in celebration of our freedom and joy.

Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
