Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel, successfully hosted a three-day conference of Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN), Navi Mumbai on 29th November to 1st December, 2019. The event was a CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) initiative of the IB students wherein the event gave an opportunity to explore different aspects of CAS. The conference was an academic simulation of United Nations (UN) including committees like SOCHUM, SSNI, UN Women along with other student friendly committees for new comers like Harry Potter and Marvel. Students participated as delegates of different countries and handled global agendas to solve local, national and international issues by means of role-plays and deliberations in committee sessions. More than 150 students from 15 Mumbai and Navi Mumbai educational institutes participated in this event.

The grand opening of the event was interweaved with many cultural performances by host school along with Dance Academy and singing Academy (partners of IIMUN). The principal of the school, Mrs. Shraddha Sardesai, presented glimpses of the host school to the audience. The guests of honour of the event Mrs. Shyamala Nath, CEO, Women India Trust,Fashion Icon, Ms. Praniti Rai Prakash and the IIMUN Founder and President, Mr. Rishabh Shah shared their valuable inputs on ‘success’ with everyone.

The second day witnessed many sessions of fascinating and captivating discussions followed by a MUNclave session with Fitness Guru Dr. Mickey Mehta. He shared his invaluable views on mantra of a healthy life for school students. The third and last day began with a blissful yoga session organized by a team from Isha Foundation. The day progressed into sessions of extraordinary solutions proposed by the delegates in each committee. These solutions were compiled into resolutions by the Executive board which in turn forwarded them to IIMUN. The deserving students were felicitated with medals and certificates by the members of respective Executive Board. At this juncture The Director of Dr Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel, Dr. Latha Venkataraman appreciated the efforts of each committee, congratulated the winners and emphasized on the need to bring in a global outlook in the academic curriculum

The Charge d’Affair of the IIMUN team Mr. Abdul Ghani Punjabi thanked the host school for their excellent hospitality, management and logistic support. The organizing committee of the IB students were especially appreciated for their seamless coordination of the entire event.
