International Commerce Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel on the 16th October, 2014 in the auditorium. Students from Grades 6 to Grade 12 participated in the programme. The objective of the event was to create awareness about Commerce stream and spread the message that commerce subjects are interesting to study.
The formal inauguration of the programme was done by the Principal Mrs. Anjna Sahi. The students of Grade 12 welcomed the dignitaries. Dr. Latha Venkataraman spoke about how Commerce is part of our everyday life and has helped make our lives easier. She spoke about the inter-relationship of Commerce, Science and Arts.
As part of the Commerce Day event, students of IBDP II organized four games based on different management themes for the students of grade 6 to 11 – ADMAD SHOW, Logo / Tag Line Quiz Mania, Pinning the Tail and Falling in Line. The Management games placed emphasis on making the students aware of the role of team work, participation, presence of mind, coordination, direction, time management, effective communication and such other management principles.
The function was a success and imparted the message that ‘Commerce is Fun; Commerce is important to everyone’. The Principal Ms. Anjna Sahi felt that Commerce Day Celebration was one of the ways in which international-mindedness would be developed in the students. The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Latha Venkataraman.
