DPGA > CAS Activities > Panchgani Trip 2016

A welcome break from the daily rigours of studies and classrooms came in the form of the three-day Panchgani Adventure Camp. The students of Grades 9-12 of DPGA headed to the scenic hill station on 29th January, 2016. Known as Natventure Chesson and Shirwal Camp, our campsite – Swiss tents atop a hill, a sprawling guesthouse, abundant natural beauty and even a Labrador retriever named Sheru- filled us with delight. The manager of the campsite, Mr. Yuvraj, was a professional mountaineer. His ‘simple hai’ (it’s easy) philosophy taught us that no matter what life’s challenges, one must never give up.

What fun it was to narrate horror stories by the campfire under the clear starry skies and wake up next morning to fresh, unpolluted air, with the first rays of the sun peeking out from behind the hills! Each morning, a fun-filled exercise session was accompanied by some hilarious camp songs.

‘To be kind is more important than to be right’ – taking this philosophy ahead, a CAS activity was organised where we managed to bring a smile on the faces of the students of a local balwadi (pre-primary school). And not to forget our visit to the Mapro Gardens in Mahabaleshwar, where we indulged in fresh strawberry ice-creams, wood- baked pizzas (yum!!!) and some serious retail therapy.

It is said that when you are having fun, time flies. All too soon, it was time to bid goodbye to ‘Yuvi Sir’ (as he liked us to address him) and head home. One thing is certain; we shall cherish the memories of this trip for a lifetime.
