Mental health affects every aspect of your life. It’s not just this neat little issue you can put into a box.
– Shannon Purser

Organised by the psychology students of our school, Metanoia is an annual mental health awareness initiative aimed at encouraging reflection, understanding, and open conversations around mental well-being. The event serves as a reminder that taking care of one’s mental health is essential and ongoing.

Metanoia 2025 was conducted on 28th and 29th November, and 1st December 2025, and revolved around the theme “The Mind Verse”, symbolising the many dimensions and complexities of the human mind. The event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that opened the gates to six different worlds, each representing a distinct mental health issue. Students were assorted into batches and guided through each booth, ensuring a structured and immersive experience. The first booth, “Pieces of Us,” focused on interpersonal relationships and the challenges that often arise within them. An interactive group activity was conducted where students were given scenario-based questions along with four possible responses. Each team discussed and
selected the response they felt was most appropriate, justifying their choice. The psychology students then explained the healthiest way to handle each situation, making the session both relatable and insightful.

The second booth, “Under the Pressure Cooker,” highlighted the impact of societal expectations on an individual’s mental well-being. The presenters discussed how constant pressure can slowly affect confidence and emotional strength, while also suggesting effective coping strategies. A group activity followed, where students ranked their emotional responses to various situations on a scale of one to five. This session encouraged students to express their thoughts and emotions more freely.

The third booth, “Journey to You,” emphasised the importance of being real and truthful to oneself rather than striving to become an unrealistic ideal. Students participated in an activity where negative statements were transformed into positive yet realistic ones. This booth conveyed the importance of self-acceptance while still encouraging personal growth.

The fourth booth, “Hormone Havoc Station,” focused on the role of hormones in the human body, particularly during adolescence. Teenagers often experience mood swings without understanding their cause. This session explained different hormones, what leads to changes in their levels, and how they influence emotions and behaviour. It helped students better understand their bodies and normalised experiences often misunderstood. The fifth booth, “Beat the Burnout,” addressed academic stress, a common challenge faced by students. The presenters discussed various causes of academic pressure and shared ways to manage stress effectively so that it does not overwhelm the mind and body. The session was highly relatable and offered practical solutions that students could apply in their daily lives. The final booth, “Armour and Adaptation,” encouraged students to express their struggles openly instead of bottling them up. It introduced healthy coping mechanisms and techniques for letting go, reinforcing the idea that seeking help and expressing emotions are signs of strength.

In conclusion, Metanoia 2025 was more than just an event—it was an experience that allowed students to step into The Mind Verse and gain a deeper understanding of mental health. Through interactive booths, meaningful discussions, and relatable themes, the initiative successfully promoted awareness and reduced stigma. Metanoia reminded us that mental health deserves continuous care, empathy, and understanding, making it an essential conversation rather than a temporary one.
