A much anticipated festival, Hindi Diwas celebrates all things Hindi: from poetry to dance; from songs to speeches, the day is dedicated to reminiscing about, and appreciating, all the wonderful aspects of Hindi that are forgotten in our day-to-day use of it. Students from Grades 1–5 took the audience by storm through their passionate performances.
As the audience settled into their seats, they saw the stage, decorated with banners, garlands, and cultural artwork made by DPGA’s very own students. The festivities commenced with students taking an oath to treasure India’s Rashtra Bhasha and to speak it in its purest form, ensuring no corruption or dilution of the mellifluous and ornate language. After this, students came onto the stage one-by-one, sporting costumes — each one more elaborate and colourful than the last.
For the first performance, the students sang Hindi songs in a choir, leaving the audience awestruck with their strong, well-rehearsed vocals. After this, a speech was delivered, highlighting the importance of Hindi’s history. Not only did this celebration entertain the students, but it educated the students about the richness of Hindi, its cultural influences, and importance to numerous Indian communities.
Following this, students danced to Indian classical music, elegantly and gracefully swaying to the music. To further give prominence to Hindi’s poetic and literary aspects, students took part in Kavi Sammelan, reciting delightful poems, intonating just the right syllables, and gesturing at just the right words. The audience were thoroughly enthralled, enjoying every verse.
Further into the celebration, students sang and danced together to universally beloved Balgeet, serving as nostalgia for the teachers and entertainment for the students. From Aalo ka Chaalo to Lakdi ki Kathi, every student gave a spectacular performance. The music, the lights on the stage, as well as the expressions and movements of the students were enough to create an atmosphere of joy.
One of the highlights of Hindi Diwas ’25 was a vivid and moving skit through dance, which emphasised the importance of trees, delivering an impactful and relevant message about environmentalism. After that, there was yet another wonderful dance performance regarding the importance of sustainability and protecting the planet. The meaning behind these performances was clear: we must take action now. Moreover, the delivery of this poignant idea in Hindi made clear the capacity of the language to discuss social and political problems.
The event ended with a heartfelt speech delivered by Ms. Mabel Pillai. The celebration helped students recognise Hindi as an important aspect of their daily lives, as well as its contribution to India’s culture and art. The final vote of thanks and concluding remarks were delivered Ms. Supriya Saini. Students, teachers, and audience members had an incredible day on the 26th of September 2025 that they will not forget anytime soon.
All in all, Hindi Diwas 2025 was one of many successful and enthusiastically-organised cultural festivals at Dr. Pillai Global Academy. This event commemorates and honours Hindi, its linguistic and artistic aspects — but it also does much more than that. It provides a platform for students to express themselves, to engage with a subject meaningfully, with a splash of fun. After all, isn’t the point of a language to be a tool of communication? DPGA’s students understood, and through that language, made the prestige and exquisiteness of Hindi clear to everyone.
