Naval Band Performance 2019

As part of Navy week celebrations, the Indian Navy had invited our school to view the programme of naval band performance and tattoo ceremony at Gateway of India on 2nd December, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A group of 36 students across grades 6 to 11 were accompanied by Mr. Rajesh and other teachers from Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel to attend the ceremony.

The ceremony was preceded by a marching contingent and an ‘Operational Demonstration’ by the naval helicopters, marine commandos and Fast Interceptor Crafts. The beating retreat and tattoo ceremony were performed by the Indian naval band with beating of retreat being performed before sunset and the tattoo ceremony being performed after sunset. The events also included fly past by naval helicopters, continuity drill by a contingent of sailors and hornpipe dance by the Sea Cadet Corps and the dance performance of the Russian Naval Team is also exemplary. The event concluded with illumination of ships and shore establishments near Gateway of India.

The students and staff were enthralled by the naval performance. It was indeed a treat to our students, as they got the rare opportunity to have a glimpse of various scintillating activities of the Indian Navy.
