Owing to the continuing pandemic situation, the Orientation for International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for the session 2021-2023 was conducted virtually by the IGCSE Section Head and IBDP Mathematics HOD, Mr. Gyanendrapratp Singh on 3rd April, 2021 in presence of the Principal, Ms. Shraddha Sardesai, Dr. Mousumee Mishra, the IBDP Coordinator, IBDP subject teachers, interested parents and students. Mr. Gyanendrapratap welcomed the audience and explained the IBDP requirements starting with the IB Mission statement focussing on the IB philosophy.
The six subject groups with disciplines offered under each group at DPGA, Panvel were discussed and the requirements for the programme were explained. The significance of Core components – Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service in the Diploma Programme were cited to highlight the 21st century skills as required at the university level making students more knowledgeable and reflective to adequately prepare them for the university level. The meaning of IB Learner Profiles were stated along with the approaches to teaching and learning in the IB Diploma Programme.
A captivating video of an IBDP alumna, Akanksha Deshpande was showcased to the audience to give a brief understanding about the journey of IBDP from the mouth of our school topper. This was followed by a detailed question-and-answer round which was taken up at length by Dr. Mousumee, the IBDP Coordinator. The session was quite insightful and was ended by a thanking note by Mr. Singh.
