On 25th July, 2014 a solemn ceremony was conducted in the auditorium of Dr. Pillai Global Academy wherein the newly elected student leaders took charge of their offices. The Investiture Ceremony 2014-15 was attended by a gathering of students, teachers and guests. Mr. Ranjan Goyal, CEO of Edvance Preschools Pvt. Ltd., graced the occasion as the chief guest.

It was indeed a proud moment for the DPGA family as the council members received their badges from the chief guest, Mr. Ranjan Goyal and the special guests Ms. Celina Joy (Chief Financial Officer, Mahatma Education Society), Ms. Mabel Chan Pillai. Cut from the same cloth and woven in strands of integrity, sincerity and honesty, the student council took an oath to live up to the expectations and work in sync with the mission of the school.

Sashes and badges were awarded to the house captains, vice captains, house masters and assistant house masters of the four houses, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire and Topaz respectively.

The chief guest, Mr. Ranjan Goyal, congratulated the newly elected council and delivered a motivational speech emphasising on the true meaning and significance of leadership. He rightly remarked that leadership is not about a title but also about the trust and confidence that the students and teachers repose in the council.

In an interaction with the chief guest, the school Head Girl, Ria Munot said that a good leader is someone who leads a team towards achieving a common goal. Tejal Borade, the Deputy Head Girl, was of the opinion that a good leader leads by example.

The school choir added to the effectiveness of the programme with an inspirational song, We are the young.

The Principal adressed the council members and congratulated them on their appointment as the school representatives. In keeping with a famous quote by John F. Kennedy that ‘Leadership and learning are indespensable’, she stressed on the relevance of learning that always distinguishes the extraoridinary from the ordinary.

The school ex Head Boy, Akash Jishnu, shared his experience of leading a council with the gathering. He highlighted the importance of working as a team and walking an extra mile to achieve a common goal.

The Head Boy, Amaan Patekar, and the Head Girl, Ria Munot encouraged their team through words laden with meaning. They inspired the council members by emphasising on the significance of taking up collective responsibility to generate progress and take the school to greater heights.

Investiture ceremony sets the right tone for an academic year during which the young leaders not only learn to guide other students but also create models in leadership for others to emulate.
